Each week a family receives a choice of the following...

The DIY Box

  • ~11 Ibs local and/or organic produce

  • fresh locally baked bread

  • Alaskan or organic dry goods

  • pickled vegetables

  • hot soup

  • recipes and educational material

The Nearly Effortless Box

  • A Nearly EFFORTLESS MEAL KIT

  • ~4 Ibs local and/or organic produce

  • fresh locally baked bread

  • pickled vegetables

  • hot soup

  • recipes and educational materials

Along with this box full of goodness, families receive Cooperative Extension handouts and our newsletter that corresponds with that week's produce and dry goods. Each week our newsletter, Stay Healthy, Stay Mindful, features a note from the Boss of Flavor, a recipe that uses ingredients from the box, a Local Food Spotlight, and a Mindful Living Hack. In the Local Food Spotlight, we share information about where to access local foods at U-pick farms, markets, and in the wild!

This program is designed to relieve financial stress on families in need and help them stay healthy. Eligible families must have reliable transportation (to pick up the weekly boxes in Soldotna) and must be interested in learning about cooking with whole food ingredients. Participants will be selected on a first-come, first-served basis.

This program is funded by grant monies awarded to Kenai Local Food Connection and by matched donations from The Goods + Sustainable Grocery & Where It's At! mindful food & drink. We are now inviting local community groups and organizations to expand the reach of these awesome resources.
