Chef Demos
​Try a tasty food sample and chat with the chef about how they made it and what local ingredients went into it. And don't forget to grab a copy of the recipe so you can try it out at home!​
Cooking Classes
Learn to cook tasty meals using fresh local ingredients! Our small-group cooking classes are taught by professional chefs and include hands-on instruction, discussions, and tasting.
Upcoming Events

The Goods: January 11th, 2–4 pm
Chef Kenten Marin will be leading this hands-on cooking class at The Goods.
AK Fermentation: January 17th, 2–4 pm
Participants at this workshop will learn the art of fermentation from AK Fermentation Co. owner Marnie Olcott, and will leave with a fermenting food of their own! Participants will need to bring their own materials, and Marnie will guide everyone through the process.
Participants will need to bring:
-
a vessel (a crock or canning jar with a lid) to ferment in (can be any size)
-
a vegetable they'd like to ferment (cabbage is ideal)
-
salt in its original container (be sure it does not have anti-caking agents!)
-
something to tamp the vegetables down with
-
a weight (must be hygienic, as it will be resting atop the vegetables, can be as simple as a rock in a baggie)
There is room for 9 people to work on their own fermentations. If you'd like a space, please email Carly at pierson.carlymarie@gmail.com to claim your space. If you are interested in simply observing and learning, there is no need to RSVP.
The class will be held at AK Fermentation Co.'s kitchen (34925 Sterling Highway, Sterling, Alaska 99672).
